“Watership Down” Bigwig in a Snare Production Cel and Background (1978) - ID: jun26009

A production cel and background setup from the Nepenthe Studios animated cult classic "Watership Down" (1978). Featuring Hazel, Bigwig, and Blackberry, the hand-painted cel and background were created at the studio and used during the animation process. The layers appear in separate scenes in the film. The characters are on two layers that are around 32:24 when Bigwig has just been saved from the snare. The background is seen at about 57:02 when Blackavar is talking to Bigwig while Kehaar removes the black stones from Hazel’s leg. Measuring 11”x13.5” overall, with the character image area measuring 3”x9”, the setup is in very good condition with light edge and corner wear and minor marks and paint transfer along left cel edge.
