“Watership Down” Bigwig Production Cel and Background (1978) - ID: jun26007

A production cel and background setup from the Nepenthe Studios animated cult classic "Watership Down" (1978). Featuring Bigwig, the hand-painted cel and background were created at the studio and used during the animation process. Both layers are actual frames of animation that were photographed and appear in the film during separate scenes. The background appears about 10:17 into the film when Hazel and Fiver are telling Bigwig that they need to see the chief rabbit. Measuring 11”x13” overall, with the character image measuring 5”x2.5”, the setup is in very good condition with potential trimming to the edges of the background and wear to the bottom edge of the celluloid where it is attached to a film strip for reinforcement.
