A production cel and background setup from the Nepenthe Studios animated cult classic "Watership Down" (1978). Featuring Bigwig, Blackberry, Fiver, Dandelion, and Pipkin, the hand-painted cel and background were created at the studio and used during the animation process. The piece is an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the film. All layers of this setup are seen about 38:53 into the film when Bigwig hides behind his friends when he hears what he believes is the Black Rabbit of Inle. The cel layers all match this background, but they do not match each other precisely and the layer with Dandelion is not present. Measuring 10.25”x13” overall, with the character image measuring 6”x8”, the setup is in very good condition with light edge wear and a heavy crease at the very upper left corner of the cel layers.
