“Watership Down” Kehaar & Rabbits Production Cel and Background (1978) - ID: jun26024

A production cel and background setup from the Nepenthe Studios animated cult classic "Watership Down" (1978). Featuring Fiver, Hazel, Blackberry, Kehaar, and Pipkin, the hand-painted cel and background were created at the studio and used during the animation process. The piece is an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the film. The image is seen at about 48:45 when the rabbits meet Kehaar. The cels all match the background, but the cels do not match each other exactly. Measuring 11”x13.5” overall, with the character image area measuring 3.25”x6.75”, the setup is in very good condition with light edge and corner wear, adhesive tape around the edges of the background, pin holes at the corners of the background, creases at the top left corner of the cel layers, and the background cel overlay is taped to right edge of the background.
