A beautiful preliminary background from the Walt Disney Studios animated film Robin Hood (1973). Featuring Prince John's stately bedroom, the background was created in gouache at the studio by Disney artist James Coleman and used during the animation process. The artwork is signed on the back by Coleman, who started his career at Disney Studios in the mailroom during 1969, where his talents eventually allowed him to advance and work on 12 of Disney's feature films before retiring to pursue fine art. Measuring 12.5"x32" overall with the image measuring 11"x26.5", the hand-painted background is in fine condition with minimal edge wear.
