A development painting from the Nepenthe Studios animated cult classic "Watership Down" (1978). Featuring two delicate rabbit studies, the development painting was created at the studio and used during the film’s development process. The film used a variety of styles and mediums throughout the scenes of the movie, and these concepts were likely used as tests to create this unique visual style. Measuring 10.5”x13” overall, with the character image area measuring 5”x9.25”, the development painting is in very good condition with edge and corner wear, both characters are trimmed to image and applied to the cel layer, the left rabbit has a faint crease and the adhesive attaching it was replaced.
