This is an unbelievably rare and stunning production set up from the Walt Disney Studios animated short, Paul Bunyan (1958). The cel imagery of Paul Bunyan and Joe Muffaw is from the scene where Paul comes upon Joe pitching his new chainsaw to the lumberjacks. Both characters are trimmed to image with some minimal paint damage and cracking. The character cels are applied to a separate cel layer. This cel layer is attached, using clear scotch tape, to a production background that is also from the film, and appears in the first scene of Joe and Paul's competition, behind Joe using his chainsaw. The background is an original painting by Disney Legend Eyvind Earle. Earle's initial's appear in the lower left margin, and he has hand-signed the piece in the lower right of the image area. The piece comes matted and framed, the frame has some wear. The overall framed piece measures 19.75" x 23" and the mat opening exposes a wonderful image that measures 10" x 13.25".
