A hand silk-screened poster for the Tom Sawyer Island attraction at Disneyland. Featuring a depiction of Tom Sawyer's Island, and Tom Sawyer himself, the poster begs us to "Explore" the Old Mill, Injun Joe's Cave, Tom and Huck's Tree House, Fort Wilderness and Castle Rock. Designed by Disney Bjorn Aronson, and impressively hand silk-screened, the poster has an unusual yet striking color palette, and a simple composition reminiscent of travel posters of the 1950's. Due to the laborious process of silk-screen printing, the park printed multiples of this poster when it was designed in 1957, and as the park displayed poster would fade and wear, a replacement would be pulled from the printed inventory. The early silk-screened posters are some of the most identifiable and vivid representations of the early park. Measuring 54"x36", the poster is in very good condition with small indications of wrinkles and light edge wear that is barely visible due to linen backing preservation and one corner was repaired during restoration. The piece is framed, not pictured.
