This is a limited edition statue from the Walt Disney Studios animated feature, Beauty and the Beast (1991). In 1993, Walt Disney Art Classics used the exact same molds that the studio used for the animator's production maquettes to produce a limited edition line of the maquettes cast in resin. Hand-painted by the Disney Ink and Paint Department, they were instant sell-outs. Rarely seen in the marketplace today, this is one of those limited edition Disney studio maquettes of the Beast. He stands an impressive 12" x 11", and is numbered in an edition of only 500. The maquette is in very good condition.
