This is an original exceptionally rare production cel and background setup from the Walt Disney Studios production of . This exquisite setup features King Hubert and a young Prince Phillip as they come to present King Stephen and Queen Leah with a gift for their newly born daughter, Princess Aurora. Each character is a hand-painted cel that was trimmed and applied to the matching hand-painted production background. The large and detailed painting of the royal hall features stunning colors and draftsmanship, as overseen by background director Eyvind Earle. EAch of the cels and the background were created at the studio and photographed for this specific scene at the beginning of the film, as Prince Phillip first meets his true love. This piece was originally prepared by the studio for sale at the Courvoisier Galleries and the details of the cels being trimmed and applied to the background are standards of the setups created for Courvoisier. The overall measurements of the piece are 19.5" x 35.5" framed with the mat opening measuring 11" x 28" and the image itself measures 11" x 28". The piece is in excellent condition and is a once in a lifetime find and stunning example of the expertise in animation that was seen throughout this classic masterpiece.
