This is an original production cel and background from the Walt Disney Studios production of Little Hiawatha (1937). This hand-painted cel features an adorable image of Hiawatha and is one of the older nitrate cels used in the early days of the studio. The cel is paired with a hand-painted production background from the Bongo the Bear segment of Fun and Fancy Free (1947). Both pieces were created at the studio and used during production of their respective films, representing actual imagery that appears in the cartoons. The overall measurements of the piece are 10" x 12" and the image itself measures 8" x 10" on the background and 4.5" x 4.5" on the cel. The setup is in very good condition for its age with rippling in the cel, as is common with these older nitrate cels.
