A production cel from the Walt Disney Studios animated film “Pinocchio” (1940). Featuring a charming depiction of Pinocchio talking with a cheerful Jiminy Cricket, the hand-painted cel was created at the studio and used during the animation process. The cel was originally prepared for sale through the Courvoisier Galleries in the early 1940s and exhibits characteristics common with this preparation. The characters are trimmed to image and applied to a custom airbrushed background. Each character cel is an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the movie. Measuring 18.75”x21.25” framed, with the mat opening measuring 7.5”x9.5” and the character images measuring 6.5”x4.5” and 2”x1.75”, the cel setup is in very good condition unexamined out of frame. There is slight curling of the cels visible, which is also common of these Courvoisier setups. The frame has minor wear to the corners and edges.
