This is an original drawing that appears to have been used to develop an illustration or print of the Golden Spike Ceremony. The image is hard to find, so the final product is unknown, but the imagery features the completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad in a manner that is similar to the designs created by Clem Hall for The American Adventure, although less detailed. The Golden Spike ceremony, caricatured in the image features Samuel S Montague of the Central Pacific Railroad and Grenville M. Dodge of the Union Pacific Railroad driving in the final spike together. It's possible that this may have been used to design an illustration in a cast and crew publication. The sheet measures 14" x 16.5" with the image itself measuring 4" x 10" and is in very good condition.
